Increase Your Energy Efficiency |
| |
Glass options that reduce solar heat gain can provide significant savings on energy bills. Our standard 3/4" double-paned insulated glass offers excellent U-value and reduces sound when compared to ordinary single-pane glass and is covered by a 10-year warranty. PGT also offers heat-reducing tints and high-performance low-E coatings that reduce solar heat gain while protecting your furnishings, draperies and artwork from fading. |
| |
 |
| |
In considering glass options, it’s valuable to compare how various options affect solar heat gain and visible light transmittance. Reducing solar heat gain can save on air conditioning bills. Reducing visible light transmittance – that is the brightness of the daylight entering a home – may or may not be a desired effect.

Glass must meet a Visible Light Transmittance of .45 or less. |
| |
| |
U-Value (Winter Night Time) The smaller the number, the better. When a home is primarily heated, the U-Value (heat flow out of the home) is the correct rating to inquire about.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient The lower the number, the less heat is going into the house. When a home is primarily air conditioned, the SGHC value is the correct rating to inquire about.
Visible Light Transmittance The higher the number, the brighter the light that is transmitted through the glass.
Ultraviolet Light Transmittance Ultra-violet light is the portion of the solar spectrum not visible to the human eye, which causes fading. The lower the number, the more UV is being blocked out. |

| Effortless Hurricane Protection |
| |
If you live in Florida or in other coastal areas of the southeast, energy efficiency and aesthetics aren’t the only things you should consider when building a home. Recently, many coastal states have enacted stricter hurricane protection codes to keep your home safe from hurricane-force winds and flying debris. That’s why we also offer PGT® WinGuard® Impact-Resistant Windows and Doors with vinyl frames.
WinGuard provides Effortless Hurricane Protection with heavy-duty vinyl frames and a polyvinylbutryal interlayer that keeps your windows intact – and the wind and rain out. WinGuard Windows and Doors with vinyl frames pass some of the most stringent hurricane codes in the country, and they also include standard insulated glass to protect you from high energy costs.
Instead of shutters or panels that must be stored and hung, WinGuard Windows and Doors are on guard 24 hours a day, even when you’re not at home. Plus they offer noise reduction, filter out up to 99% of fading UV rays and provide round-the-clock protection from intruders, all while keeping your new home looking its best. |
